Edible Cookie Dough

Sometimes you just need to eat the cookie dough straight from the bowl! This recipe makes that possible without the worry of getting sick from raw eggs or flour.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 sticks Unsalted Butter room temp
  • 1 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 ½ cups Applesauce
  • 2 tbsp Peanut Butter no stir kind is best
  • tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 cups Chocolate Chips or candy of choice

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet or Heat Safe Container
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Mixing Spoon or Spatula

Method
 

  1. Before you start you want to heat treat your flour. Start by preheating your oven to 350°F.
  2. Spread the flour evenly on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 5 minutes.
  3. While you let the flour cool, in a large mixing bowl, combine the butter, sugar, and salt until light and fluffy.
  4. Add in applesauce, peanut butter, nutmeg, and vanilla.
  5. By this point your flour should have cooled completely. Slowly add flour to the rest of the batter and mix until just combined.
  6. Lastly, fold in the chocolate chips (or candy) and eat until you can't eat anymore!

Notes

Optional Mix-Ins*:
  • Reese's Pieces
  • M&Ms
  • Mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, cut into pieces
  • Any cut up or small candy of choice!
 
*If adding mix-ins, make sure the total amount of chocolate chips and other candy equals 2 cups. So if you wanted to do Reese's, M&Ms, chocolate chips, and cut up Snickers, you will want a 1/2 cup of each one.
