Rice Krispie Treats

The best rice krispie treats around. No dry crunchy treats here!
Prep Time 20 minutes
Total Time 20 minutes
Servings: 9 Servings
Course: Dessert

Ingredients

  • 5 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 8 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • 2 cups Mini Marshmallows these are extra
  • 6 cups Puffed Rice Cereal
  • ½ tsp Salt

Equipment

  • 8x8 Baking Dish
  • Large Pot

Method

  1. Start by lining an 8x8 pan (or 9x13, if you want a thinner treat) with foil or parchment and spray, lightly, with cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat.
  3. Once melted add in 8 cups of the mini marshmallows, constantly stirring until you have a very yummy looking marshmallow fluff situation.
  4. Once the marshmallows are melted remove from heat and stir in rice krispie cereal and salt until completely coated in marshmallow mixture.
  5. Now stir in the remaining 2 cups of mini marshmallows and any other mix-ins your little heart desires.
  6. Pour mixture into the prepared pan and press to even it out. I recommend spraying your hands (or a spatula) with cooking spray to keep the marshmallow from sticking as your press it into the pan.
  7. Allow the treats to cool completely before cutting them into squares. Once cooled feel free to drizzle or dip in chocolate. Best if served the same day, but if you manage to have leftovers keep those babies in an airtight container and they will last another day or two.

Notes

Optional:
  • Chocolate Chips*
  • Sprinkles*
  • Candy* (like m&ms, rolos, mini reese's)
  • Chocolate for Drizzling
*For the mix-ins, make sure the total amount of mix in equals 1/2 cup. So if you want to do an assortment of chocolate chips, sprinkle, and candy, make sure the total amount is 1/2 cup (rather than 1/2 cup of each).
